Paso Robles produces buxom Cabernets but the top wines from the region have smart and wicked personalities to match their carnal nature. Rough Rider is a Cabernet from an elite vineyard, made by legendary people and it shows off with every drop.
Paso Robles is one of the last bastions of real wine cowboys. The mix of farming and ranching and coastal kissed living creates a unique breed of folk and that uniqueness and connection to the land shows in the wines. Tougher than leather, authentic & poetic.
Wild and free a young colt of a wine was born and bred in the western mountains of Paso Robles. It took no minor significance to work with this colt and to not just break it but to let it be what it was always meant to be, a magnificent stallion. This Rough Rider, bursts with dark Chelan cherry, blackcurrant, cedar, clove, and wild fig. Power ripples under a velveteen layer on the palate and provides an approachable yet firm structure and balance. Paso’s calcareous and shale soils, long warm days, and cool nights molded a powerful and almost unbreakable wine.
