The Scharf family Vineyard is a small, hillside vineyard located on the southern slope of Dry Creek valley. Planted in 1986, the bud wood was acquired from a vineyard in the Diamond Mt. district of Napa. This combination of site and vine stock has been producing exceptional wines for over 20 years. Naturally low yields in association with small clusters yields a wine with intense varietal character.

The grapes were harvested on October 9th, 2009 at 25.8 brix. The clusters were minimally
destemmed and crushed. This allows more whole berries through which intensifies the rich,
deep fruit character. The use of extended maceration softens the tannins and adds a velvety,
smooth mouth feel. The wine was aged in 50% new American oak for 30 months and has
produced a wine rich and intense. Excellent now, it will deliver smiles for years to come.

Like the Gunfighter, this wine never misses and hits the bulls eye every time. Deep, rich aromas of plum and black cherry are first to hit the target, followed closely by cassis and dark chocolate. The perfume of new oak is evident when the wine hits your palette. Keep a firm grip on this one and don't let your gun hand get shaky, you might spill a drop.
