Carneros is a diverse sub-ava that is known for a number of varietals namely, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Merlot and Syrah. We don't do merlot svery often but when we do, watch out.
This is a massive Merlot stuffed with fruit and complexity but with a roundness and elegance that makes suede jealous. Deep and dark like a black rose dipped in ink this wine shows intense black and red fruit on the nose. On the palate deep layers of strawberry, boysenberry and black raspberry are framed with cedar and sweet smoke nuances. Soft, silky and supple this wine is drinking exceptionally well now so get on it!
This wine came from a tiny vineyard in the warmer area of Carneros, which is perfectly situated on one of the broader shoulders of the Mayacamas Range.
